The meaning of Revelation



‘gye-shi’ in Korean (gye: to open, shi: to show)
means ‘to open and show’,
while ‘mook-shi’ (mook: to be silent, shi: to show) means ‘to show silently’.

Before fulfillment, it is ‘Mook-shi’,
and when it is fulfilled, it is ‘gye-shi.’  

The underlying meaning that both are trying to convey are the same.

계시(啓示 : 열 계, 보일 시)란 ‘열어서 보인다’는 뜻이다.
묵시(黙示)의 ‘묵’은 ‘잠잠할 묵(黙)’ 자이다.
이루기 전에는 ‘묵시’라 할 수 있고, 이루는 때는 ‘계시’라 할 수 있다.
그러나 그것이 말하고자 하는 의미(속뜻)는 결국 같은 것이다.

Difference between the Mook-shi and Gye-shi



According to the Bible, there are hidden mysteries
in the contents of Genesis (Ps 78:2).

Jesus spoke in parables in accordance with this promise of God,
and he made them known to the future generations (Mt 13:34-35).

Jesus also promised he would no longer use this figurative language,
but would speak plainly about the Father
when the time promised by God comes (Jn 16:25).

In fact, according to that very promise, 
the time when the word is being made known plainly is today.

This is God’s promise and His will.
Furthermore, there is a time when people are not supposed
to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven.

At a time when those secrets are made known,
there are people who are permitted to know them,
and there are people who are not permitted to know them.

성경에 기록된바, 옛 창세의 내용 중 감추어진 비밀이 있었고,
이를 하나님의 약속대로 예수께서 비유를 베풀어 후대에 전한 것이었으며,
하나님의 약속대로 때가 되면 다시는 비사(比辭 : 비유로 된 말)로 말하지 않고
하나님에 대한 것을 밝히 알린다는 그 말대로 오늘날 밝게 전하는 것이다.
이는 하나님의 약속이요 뜻이다.
그리고 천국 비밀을 알아서는 안 되는 때가 있고,
알아야 할 때가 되면 알아야 할 자가 있고 알아서는 안 되는 자가 있다.

Kinds of Revelations



There are two kinds of revelations.

One is a vision revelation and the other is a fulfillment revelation.

Vision revelation is a prophecy, a prophecy that is to be fulfilled.

Fulfillment revelation shows the physical reality
that appeared on earth according to the prophecy.
We can see the physical reality with our eyes.

The prophecy regarding the future that will become a revelation remains 
as the word of the sealed scroll until the appointed time.

As a result, no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth can open the scroll or even look inside it (refer to Rv 5:1-3).

The book of Revelation that John recorded based on what he saw, is a prophecy, a vision revelation showing what will be fulfilled in future.
It is the revelation of Jesus Christ.

계시의 종류는 두 가지가 있다.
하나는 환상 계시이며, 또 하나는 실상 계시이다.
환상 계시는 예언이며, 이를 묵시라 할 수 있다.
실상 계시는 예언한 묵시가 이 땅에 실체로 나타난 것을 보여 주는 것이므로,
우리가 그 실체를 눈으로 볼 수 있는 것이다.
장래에 계시될 묵시는 예언으로서 때가 되기 전에는 봉한 책의 말이며,
천상천하에 알 자도, 펼쳐 이룰 자도, 볼 자도 없다(계 5:1~3 참고).
요한이 보고 기록한 계시록은 예언이며, 장래에 이룰 것을 환상으로 본 계시이며, 
이는 예수 그리스도의 계시이다.

The events of Revelation

Revelation 1:1-8 is the conclusion of the entire book of Revelation, 
written after John saw and heard all the events of Revelation.  

The start of the events of Revelation is from Revelation 1:9,
and the location is the tabernacle of the seven stars of Revelation 2, 3.
The era of the Spiritual Israel since the past 2,000 years
comes to an end with the end of the seven stars (Revelation 6).
One era passes away, while a new era begins (Revelation 7).
In other words, the 12 tribes of New Spiritual Israel,
God’s kingdom and priests and the people are created again.


To understand the revelation of the New Testament,
one must first know about the vision revelation in the Old Testament.

계시록 1:1-8은 전장 사건을 보고 들은 후 결론만 말한 것이다.
계시록 사건의 시작은 계시록 1장 9절부터이고, 사건의 장소는 계 2, 3장의 일곱 별의 장막이다. 
2천 년 간의 영적 이스라엘은 7별의 종말(계 6장)로 끝이 나면서 한 시대가 가고, 
계시록 7장에 새로운 한 시대가 오는 것이니,
